Eicher Motors Ltd on Monday became India’s fourth most valuable automaker, displacing Bajaj Auto Ltd, which held that position so far. With this, Eicher, parent of Royal Enfield Ltd, has also become the country’s most valuable two-wheeler maker, beating Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp Ltd, which have much higher revenues.

With the 2.41% rise on Monday, shares of Eicher Motors, which makes trucks and motorcycles, have gained 38% since the beginning of the year. Data from BSE showed Eicher now has a market capitalization of Rs81,776.67 crore, after its shares closed at an all-time high of Rs30,040.60 apiece. The benchmark Sensex on Monday rose 0.63% to 32,514.94 points.

Eicher’s subsidiary Royal Enfield, which makes the Bullet and Thunderbird motorbikes, has seen brisk sales even as the overall two-wheeler market has remained sluggish. This has helped Eicher balance the cyclical weakness in its commercial vehicles business.In the three months to June, sales at Royal Enfield grew 24.7% over the last year to 188,000 units, according to industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam).

Eicher will announce its June quarter earnings on 9 August; the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of 14 analysts puts the company’s likely net profit at Rs 453 .10 crore and net sales at Rs 1966.30 crore .

Royal Enfield has begun commercial production from its new manufacturing facility at Vallam Vadagal near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Spread over 50 acres, the Vallam Vadagal plant is Royal Enfield’s third manufacturing facility and will manufacture Royal Enfield motorcycles for India and international markets.
Construction of the new facility started 15 months back and has been completed in record time. The new facility has been benchmarked to the highest level of quality and productivity. The manufacturing capacity in this facility will enable the company to meet its next level of growth.
In the first phase, the state-of-the-art facility begins with an installed production capacity of 300,000 motorcycles. In FY2017-18, the combined production capacity from all the three plants is planned to be 825,000 units. In FY2016-17, Royal Enfield produced and sold 667,135 motorcycles, nearing its installed capacity. The company’s sales have grown at a compounded rate of over 55 percent over the past six years. According to Royal Enfield, its order book continues to be strong and there is a large unmet demand. In FY2017-18, it plans to invest Rs 800 crore, largely towards capacity expansion at Vallam Vadagal, new products and platforms, and setting up of technical centres in Leicester, UK and Chennai, India. This investment will be funded through internal accruals.
The capacity expansion is also part of Royal Enfield’s strategy to prepare itself from new competition. Bajaj Auto recently inked an alliance with Triumph Motorcycles to enter the midsized motorcycle space and there are a number of other domestic OEMs also eyeing this segment.

The Milwaukee motorcycle maker, Harley-Davidson has recently updated its Bagger range for 2018. The Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special have been introduced in new colors. Apart from the usual paint scheme update, the bikes also get a new a bigger rear wheel. Unlike the previous models, the updated bikes come in a new dark paint scheme which earlier comprised more of a chrome theme.

Apart from the visual bits, the bikes also get a mechanical upgrade in form of a larger rear wheel. In what could be the first time, a measurement of the strength of general relativistic effects has been achieved from stars orbiting close to a supermassive black hole. Tested against a strong gravitational field which holds even under extreme conditions, this recent research might support the effects of predictions made by Einstein’s general relativity.
Shrouded in a cloud of gas and dust in the center of our galaxy is the black hole is known as Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), the closest supermassive black hole which had been deduced to have a mass four million times more massive than our Sun. This giant monster is surrounded by a group of stars orbiting at high speed around the black hole’s strong gravitational field which makes it an ideal environment to test the general theory of relativity.
A group of astronomers in Germany and the Czech Republic had been tracking the movements of three stars orbiting near Sgr A*. Using data from the ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile and other Telescope for the past 20 years, astronomers applied a new analytical technique, which deviates the predictions of classical physics. Instead, it hints support of the subtle effects predicted by Einstein’s general relativity.

The closest known star to Sgr A*, known as S2, showed hints of a small change in motion, indicating relativity effects. It’s a slight change, about one-sixth of a degree in the orientation from the orbit, and a few percent of its elliptical orbit’s shape.
“To determine relativistic effects for S2,” Andreas Eckart team leader at the University of Cologne realized during their analysis that “one definitely needs to know the full orbit to very high precision.”

FOSSILISED remains of early life forms could soon be found on the moon, according to a scientist.

Astrobiologist Caleb Scharf, of Columbia University, said fossils may have been transported to the moon from Earth via meteorites.
He said: "It’s not inconceivable that there are fossil organisms in Earth meteorites on the lunar surface.
"In principle, the moon has this remarkable collection of detritus from its sister planet."
He spoke after newly published research showed that oxygen from Earth had been found by a Japanese space probe on the moon.
Scientists believe the oxygen, detected by the SELENE spacecraft also known as Kaguya, could reveal a historical record of our planet’s ancient atmosphere.
Most records of when our atmosphere formed have been lost on Earth due to geological activity.
Scientists believe the new discovery opt our oxygen on the moon could help is work out what happened in the Earth's first two billion years and how we became oxygen rich.
The moon gets bombarded by highly charged ions from the sun through solar winds.
However, for five days each month the moon is shielded by Earth’s magnetosphere, which also protects us from solar storms.
In this window, slower oxygen ions from Earth hit the moon.
Scientists suspect they drifted over time from the outer layers of Earth’s atmosphere to become embedded in the moon’s regolith, a loose top layer of soil and rock.
Scientist Kentaro Terada of Osaka University in Japan led a team which reported the result s in Nature Astronomy.
He said: “Our new finding is a direct link that ions from Earth’s atmosphere are transported to the moon where they could remain in the lunar soils for billions of years."
Oxygen on Earth, coupled with water and heat is why life formed.
It is needed in the process of photosynthesis in simple microbes.
About 2.45 billion years ago Earth’s atmosphere changed from oxygen-poor to oxygen-rich, and scientists still do not know why.
It is now thought some of that early atmospheric oxygen could be embedded in the moon.
Scientists next hope to collect and analyse samples of Earth oxygen in lunar soil.
This is why Mr Scharf, who was not involved in the research, believes tint fossilised microbes could also have travelled from Earth to the moon on meteors.

Ingredients:
2 cup plain noodles (150 g pack)
6 Garlic buds, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
1/4 cup chopped French beans
1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum
1/2 cup chopped cabbage
Chopped carrots in 1/4 cup long thin slices
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
2 tsp soya sauce
1½ tsp chili sauce (red or green)
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp Oil
salt to taste
Method:
Boil the noodles. Do not let the noodles cook much, keep them slightly raw, let them cook only 95%. Vegetables should be cut according to the list of ingredients given in the list. The vegetables cut in a similar size so that they take less time to cook.
Heat 1-tablespoon oil on medium flame in a pan. Add finely chopped garlic and ginger and fry for 30 seconds. Put chopped french beans and fry for a minute. Put chopped green onions, capsicum, cabbage and carrots.
Roast vegetables on high flame until they are cooked but remain crisp, it will take about 2 minutes. Put soya sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, black pepper powder and salt (just add salt to the size of the vegetables, remember that we have added salt even when boiling noodles).
Mix well and let it cook for a minute. Put boiled noodles. Toss them to mix (lightly bake and mix). Toss it till the noodles mix well with the sauce and almost all vegetables, it will take approximately 1 minute. Turn off the gas and remove it in the serving plate. Serve it with hot and sour soup or dry vegetable Manchurian.

Ingredients for Bread Pizza Pakoda recipe:
Bread-4 Besan(Gram flour)
1.5 cups (150 grams) Mozerella cheese
¾ cup (80 grams) (grated) Capsicum
½ cup (finely chopped) Tomato
½ cup (finely chopped) Green Coriander Chutney
2 tablespoons Tomato Sauce
2 tablespoons Orageno
1 teaspoon Black pepper
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon or as per taste Chilli Flax
⅓ Tablespoon Baking soda
⅛ teaspoon Oil - for frying
Method:
Take out the gram flour in a bowl and pour some water and stir it well. The consistency of the solution should be a little thin for the solution of pakoda. Add half a teaspoon of salt, 1/2 tsp organo and 1/3 teaspoon chili flakes into the gram flour, mix all the spices well. 1 cup water is used in making gram flour solution.
Keep the solution for rest of 10-15 minutes. For bread stuff: Take the bread, put the sauce in it. Put a sliced cheese on it and lay it on its back. Spread the finely chopped capsicum and add finely chopped tomatoes. Mix salt and pepper and sprinkle a little spice over top of the stuffing, put a little organo and then put the cheese on top of it.
Take the second bread and put green coriander sauce on it and hold this bread over the bread and lightly press it. Then, cut this bread into 4 pieces. The stuffed bread is ready. Add baking soda to the solution of Gram flour and mix it. For frying: Put the oil in the pan for frying pakodas and keep it warm.
Good heating oil is required to fry pakodas. To check whether the oil is hot or not, put 1-2 drops of the solution in the oil and see, the drop cocoons flutter up, and the oil has been heated very well. Wrap stuffed bread in gram flour solution and put it in a hot oil, flip it over and over till it turns golden brown. Lay the napkin paper in the plate.
Remove the bread cooked from the pan and put it in the plate. Prepare everything by making bread pakodas like this. It takes 3-4 minutes to fry one pakoda. Your veg cheese stuff bread pakoda is ready.

Gram flour (besan) 2 cups, Yogurt whisked 1 cup, Salt to taste, Green chillies 2-3, Ginger, 1 1/2 inch piece, Turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon, Oil 2 tablespoons, Soda bicarbonate, 1 teaspoon, Lemon juice, 1 tablespoon, Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon, Fresh coriander leaves chopped, 2 tablespoons
Coconut scraped, 1/4 cup.

How to make
Take gram flour in a bowl. Add yogurt and warm water and whisk well so that there are no lumps. The mixture should be of a slightly thick consistency. Add salt and leave it covered to ferment for three to four hours. Grind green chillies and ginger into a paste. When gram flour mixture has fermented, add turmeric powder and green chilli-ginger paste.
Adjust seasoning and mix well. Heat the steamer. Grease a dhokla mould or shallow cake tin or a thali. In a small bowl take soda bicarbonate, one teaspoon oil and lemon juice. Mix and add to the gram flour mixture and whisk briskly. Pour batter into the greased thali and place it in the steamer. Cover with the lid and steam for ten to twelve minutes.
When a little cool, cut into squares and keep in a serving bowl/plate. Heat remaining oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds. When the seeds begin to crackle, remove and pour over the dhoklas. Serve, garnished with coriander leaves and coconut.
Prep Time : 3.30-4 hour
Cook time : 16-20 minutes
Serve : 4

How to make

Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, ginger and onion and saute for two minutes. Add green chillies, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and saute for a minute. Add French beans, beetroot, green peas and mix. Add salt and continue to sauté for two minutes. Add crushed cashewnuts and refined flour and sauté for two minutes. Set aside.
Take mashed potatoes in a deep bowl. Add the vegetable mixture and mix well. Add coriander leaves and adjust salt. Add lemon juice and mix. Heat sufficient oil in another pan.
Take a portion of the mixture, shape into a ball and roll in breadcrumbs. Press lightly and place the cutlet in the pan. Shallow fry till both the sides are evenly golden. Similarly prepare more cutlets. Drain and place on an absorbent paper and serve hot.
Total Time: 35 mins.
It can be served to 4 people.

Its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties help prevent breakouts and the appearance of acne and blemishes. Apart from all this, it helps in reducing itchiness of the scalp and helps to reduce hair fall. Grind a handful of tulsi leaves and mix the powder in some warm coconut oil. Gently massage this mixture into your scalp once a week to prevent hair fall.

Once a while, you could try brushing your teeth with some dried tulsi leaves powder. Not only does this practice help you get rid of bad breath, but also helps prevent gum diseases, pyorrhoea, and other dental infections. It’s best to mix the powder with a few drops of mustard oil for positive results. In case of a toothache, turn to the goodness of this medicinal herb. After you have washed three-four fresh tulsi leaves, make a smooth paste. To this, add half a tablespoon of black pepper corn powder and mix well. Apply this paste directly over the tooth and leave for a few minutes. Repeat this thrice a day until you seek permanent relief from the pain.
Common cold and fever
The germicidal, fungicidal, anti-bacterial and antibiotic properties of this herb can help bring down fever. Chewing on some fresh tulsi leaves on an empty stomach can also help one get rid of common cold and flu. Boil a 6-7 fresh tulsi leaves with one-two teaspoons of powdered cardamom in half a litre of water. On a low flame, let it reduce to half its total volume. If required, add a tablespoon of honey or sugar to it and sip every two to three hours. It’s said that tulsi leaves have the potential to cure any fever, be it due to common infections or malaria.
Goodbye, headache
Tulsi has pain relieving and decongestant properties, thereby making it the best natural cure for headaches. If you are suffering from a headache, caused due to sinusitis, allergies, cold or even migraines, simply boil a handful of tulsi leaves in two cups of water and let cool. Soak a clean piece of cloth in it, wring out the excess water and gently place this on your forehead to treat a headache. Alternatively you can also add a few drops of tulsi oil or extract to the water. Additionally, you can also reap the benefits of its cooling effects by making yourself a paste of ground basil leaves and sandalwood. Apply this to your forehead, sit back and feel relaxed and calm.

Using a cotton pad, apply the fresh juice of tulsi leaves or paste of fresh roots directly on the affected skin.

Prepare some juice by boiling a handful of tulsi leaves. Boil until water turns black. Using a sterilised eye dropper, put two drops into each eye at bedtime.

Ingredients:

Chicken : 1/2 kg

Turmeric : 1 tsp

Lemon juice: 1 tbsp

Clarified butter/ghee: 1 tsp

Garlic cloves

Ginger garlic paste

Onion: 2 medium sized

Fresh coconut: 1 cup

Coconut oil and ghee

Tomato: 1

Salt to taste.

Masala recipe:

5 to 6 red dried chillies, 1/2 tsp mustard seed, 1 tbsp corriander seeds, jeera 3/4 tsp, 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds (methi),

10 peppercorns (kali mirch), cloves 4 to 5, little curry leaves, garlic cloves 5 to 8.

Roast these items one by one using little oil.Allow to cool and then grind all these ingredients to a fine powder.

Method:

Take a kadai, put 2 to 3 tbsp of ghee, add curry leaves 1 or 2 pieces of daalchini, one bay leaf. Saute.
Add onions and ginger garlic paste and fry them till they are translucent. Add tomatoes and fry them till they are soft and mushy.
Next add the cleaned chicken into the paste and put salt and turmeric. Mix well and allow to cook for a while until chicken becomes white in colour.
On a tawa dry roast the coconut, add the masala powder based on your taste. Roast until you get a nice aroma.Allow to cool and grind it along with the remaining masala. Add it to the almost cooked chicken.Mix well and cook for 3-4 mins with lid on.
Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
Serve it with neer dosas, chapati or rice.

Now though, there is a new smartphone on the block from Micromax, offering similar design at an even more affordable price, and it is called the . The phone packs decent hardware and is a potent contender in its category. However, there is more to discuss.
Display and UI
The Canvas Infinity is all about its display, so let’s begin with that. The phone features an edge-to-edge display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, similar to the one we saw earlier on the LG Q6. While the IPS LCD is bright enough for all kinds of lighting conditions, the 1440 x 720p resolution does look a little stretched out on the 5.7-inch display. The display also has a slightly cooler colour tone and does not look as good (side-by-side) to similarly priced phones in its category.
Note: Before we begin presenting our findings, it’s worth noting that Micromax’s review unit is extremely buggy. Our particular unit has major touch issues on the panel, while there was even a dead pixel on the display. Furthermore, the entire device freezes at times and is fixed only after a restart. The issues have been communicated to Micromax and the company has acknowledged the same. A new review unit is being sent to us for the same, and the same will be reflected in the review if things change.

Our test unit also had some minor light bleeding issues, along with one dead pixel. However, assuming that this was just an issue with our test unit, I can say that Micromax has done a decent job of bringing this kind of display to the sub-10K segment, albeit with some flaws.

The UI on the other hand is a total disaster in my books. Instead of using the simpler stock interface, which Micromax has used on previous phones, we have a custom skin running on top of Android 7.1.2 Nougat. The whole UI is ridiculously buggy and makes the phone freeze from time to time. All pre-installed apps ask for critical permissions to manage your phone calls, contacts, camera, etc. For example, the camera app requires permission to make calls, which should not be required in the first place. I’ve as well, but the company seems to be continuing with it any way.
If the UI wasn't enough of an annoyance, you also have apps such as the “App center”, and “system update”, that keep populating your notification panel, suggesting apps and showing adverts. These apps already take critical permissions from you (mentioned earlier) as soon as you turn on the phone for the first time. You can’t uninstall them and at best you can block all notifications. Micromax has also added a theme manager called “Personalise” to the UI, that is literally empty. Overall, it seems the UI is just put in place for advertising purposes and in the process has left out some essential things, like baking the critical permissions in the UI itself.

Build and Design
The Canvas Infinity is essentially a budget smartphone and it feels like one for the most part. Micromax has used an old school approach to build quality here. While the back is made of metal, it is actually just a metal plate on top of a plastic holder, and the entire rear housing can be removed to reveal a removable battery. Further, instead of SIM trays, you get access to dedicated SIM slots under the back, along with a dedicated microSD card slot, which supports upto 128GB. Now, some people may like the removable back and battery solution, but some may criticize it as well. From a fair bit use, I think that Micromax has done a good enough job and the phone seems sturdy enough.
The beautiful 5.7-inch display uses 2.5D curved glass on top, but no oleophobic coating, which makes it quite resistive to swipes. However, the new taller stance and slimmer bezels around the display results in a more compact overall footprint. This means the device is easier to use in one hand, even with that large display.
Performance
The Micromax Canvas Infinity features an older Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, which seems out of place in the budget segment in 2017. However, Micromax has done a decent job by eking out most of the processing power from it. While the erratic UI takes the shine out of the phone's performance by giving the user a sluggish UI, the phone does a really good job with gaming. I tested games like Asphalt 8 and Vainglory, which are both graphically intensive games and neither felt unresponsive. I did see an occasional frame drop or two, but that is about it, and quite acceptable from budget devices. What’s not acceptable is that day-to-day performance is not very smooth and even common apps like Facebook, SMS or even the camera sometimes take a couple of seconds to load. The phone is equally laggy when switching between apps, which again seems like the UI’s doing.

BlackBerry has launched the KeyOne in India. The smartphone is priced at Rs 39,990 and is available exclusively on Amazon.in. It runs on the Snapdragon 625 platform, offers 4GB RAM and 64GB built-in storage.

Our Verdict

As a standalone device, the BlackBerry KeyOne is a good phone. However, throw competing smartphones into the mix at the same price point and it’s difficult to recommend the KeyOne.

Once upon a time, when smartphones were at a nascent stage, a company known as BlackBerry made smartphones for the businessman. If you owned a BlackBerry you were taken seriously. People wanted to know your BlackBerry Pin, they wondered how you typed so fast on that small keyboard, they couldn't comprehend how you looked stunning all the time. But most of all, people wanted the phone you had. That’s until a little device called the iPhone came and disrupted the market and people migrated from one to the other.
But Blackberry hasn’t left the building. Not yet anyways. The company has tried to innovate with in the past, with devices like the Passport, Priv, DTEK 50 and more. Today we have the latest offering from BlackBerry – the BlackBerry KeyOne Limited Edition Black. The device is priced at Rs 39,990 pitting it against smartphones like the OnePlus 5, iPhone 6S, LG G6 and more. Does it have what it takes to be the talk of the town once again?
Build and Design

One look at the device and you know this is a BlackBerry smartphone. It’s not only the signature keyboard that gives it away, but the no nonsense square design gives off the same vibe as an expensive suit. Needless to say, that the KeyOne is a smart looking device.

Below the 4.5-inch display you have the physical QWERTY keyboard (more on that later). On the right of the device you have the volume rocker and another button that you think is the power button but it isn’t. It’s the quick launcher button. On the left you have the power button, which is quite inconveniently located.
The capacitive home, back and multitasking buttons are placed below the display, right above the keyboard. Above the display we have the front facing camera and the earpiece. The bottom has the USB-C Port, and the mono speaker.
Coming to the back of the device, it has a textured faux leather feel to it, which not only makes it feel premium but also allows better grip. The space bar doubles up as the fingerprint sensor and is very fast and accurate. No complaints here.
A lot of people thought that the BlackBerry Passport was an un-ergonomic device, but if you used that smartphone to type a lot, then its wide form factor made sense. With the keyOne we have a slimmer version of the Passport and that isn’t a bad thing. It’s just that the device can get slightly uncomfortable for long typing session

The upcoming iPhone 8 could have see serious competiton. After Note 8 which is rumoured to ship around the same time, now there are news that BlackBerry could unveil a new sibling of the KEYone, and with some really big changes in October.
Reports have it that a new BlackBerry phone with full touchscreen, water and dust resistance is in works and could launch in October. The news was confirmed by Mahieu, head of global sales for TCL, said at the IFA tech conference in Berlin on Tuesday. Engadget reports that the phone could come in October.

The company, this time will ditch its traditional QWERTY keypad and instead have a full touch screen in the phone to function. Blackberry's previously launched phones DTEK50 and 60 were also touch-screen phones but there are some more upgrades by hinted by Mahieu to Engadget that make the upcoming BlackBerry phone different form the lot. To start with, the phone will come with IP67 rating making the phone dust and water resistance. Next is the battery that could be power the phone for nearly 26 hours with "mixed use." If this is believed then the phone could run for nearly 2 days on a single charge if used for basic purpose.

In a nutshell, TCL, the company that designs and builds BlackBerry phones, is planning to launch a BlackBerry phone that could be used in all weather conditions, will have a good life and durability and sport a full touch-screen display. Mahieu also said that TCL hopes that many iPhone and Galaxy users will switch to the new BlackBerry phone once it is launched. Further, the company has not given any detail on the phone or its pricing.
BlackBerry recently launched the KEYone Limited Edition Black smartphone in India for Rs 39,990. The phone has a bigger display and was first announced at Mobile World Congress. However, the phone comes with the Blackberry's typical physical QWERTY keyboard and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at up to 2GHz and paired with 4GB RAM. The dual SIM phone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat and sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display. In terms of optics, the KEYone comes with 12MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and an 8MP front camera with f/2.2.

PC manufacturers are struggling to keep their quarterly results looking good, and it isn't easy to sell high-end laptops. While some companies like Asus are experimenting with outlandishly expensive models for very niche audiences, others are focused on style and slimness. Premium hybrids or 2-in-1 laptops continue to be a big focus, and pricey as they may sometimes be, they do make excellent portable workhorses.
Lenovo has sent us its new Yoga 720-13IKB hybrid 2-in-1 which is part flagship Ultrabook, part tablet. This particular variant retails for Rs. 1,10,470 online and is the highest-end one available in India. It ships with Lenovo’s Active Pen which can be used with the Windows Ink Workspace in Windows 10, which lets you sketch and scribble notes naturally. Competing directly with the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 and the HP Spectre x360, let’s see how the Yoga 720 stacks up against other heavyweights.

Lenovo Yoga 720 design and build quality

The 13.3-inch form factor is popular around the world as it’s versatile enough for productivity without compromising on portability. Lenovo has done a splendid job with the design of the Yoga 720. Its weight is well distributed all around so the 1.3kg device is barely any trouble to balance. It's also satisfyingly slim at roughly 14.2mm.
The body and lid are built from aluminium, making them very resilient to flex. The metal backing for the display provides ample rigidity, so much so that we had nearly no pixel distortion even after forcefully applying pressure to the lid. The matte finish of the body is easy to keep clean as it doesn’t attract smudges or fingerprints easily. Since this is a hybrid, the screen folds back a full 360 degrees when you need to use it as a tablet. The hinges have good torsion and keep the lid open securely at nearly any angle for when you wish to use this device in Stand or Tent mode.

We quite like the quality of the display panel used on the Yoga 720. It’s a 13.3-inch, full-HD IPS touch screen which has good colour saturation and wide viewing angles. Lenovo calls it an ‘AntiGlare’ panel but the glossy finish tends to be quite reflective, especially in areas with lots of focused lighting, like an office. Brightness is good but it could have been better, and we often found ourselves bumping it up nearly all way under indoor lights.
The base of the laptop has a backlit power button and a full-sized USB 3.0 port on the right, and two USB Type-C ports, a headphone/ microphone combo socket and a recessed button for Lenovo’s OneKey Recovery system on the left. The first USB Type-C port is a standard USB 3.0 port that can be used for charging the laptop or data transfers, while the second one is a Thunderbolt 3 port, so it can be used for charging, for much faster data transfers, and video output using a DisplayPort-compatible monitor. The Yoga 720 can be charged with a power bank too, which is very handy feature to have but won't be as fast as using the bundled charger. What's missing here, is an SD card reader.
We have a chiclet style keyboard with two intensity levels for the backlight. The keys are evenly bathed in a white glow which isn’t distracting in the dark. We also like the spacing of the keys, and their travel is good for typing. The direction key cluster could have been better as the Up/Down keys are much smaller than the Left/Right keys and are squished together. The palm rest area has good spacing despite the compact body, with an equally large trackpad. We also have a fingerprint sensor at the right.

The speakers are placed on the bottom of the laptop, along with vents for air intake. The exhaust vents are concealed between the two hinges. In laptop mode, the exhaust vents aren’t an issue but in tablet mode, there’s no escaping the warm air being expelled.
In the box, you get a 45W charger, some documentation, and the Active Pen. This is a digitiser-based pen and requires a single AAAA battery. We would have preferred a built-in rechargeable battery. The pen comes with extra tips and a plastic holder which fits into a USB port so that you can keep it attached to the Yoga 720.
Lenovo Yoga 720 specifications and software

With the top-end model of the Yoga 720, you get an Intel Core i7-7500U CPU, 8GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM (2133MHz) that’s soldered onto the motherboard, and a 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD. The 13-inch Yoga 720 can support up to a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU, but in India Lenovo only sells models with onboard graphics in India as of now. You also get an HD webcam, Bluetooth 4.1, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, and a 4-cell battery.

The Yoga 720 ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit, along with Lenovo’s usual software. This includes Lenovo Companion, which lets you check for driver and system updates and Lenovo Settings, which helps you manage battery profiles, audio settings, and display preferences. You can also enable a feature called Paper Display which automatically adjusts the level of blue light filter based on ambient lighting. Lenovo App Explorer gives you a curated list of Windows Store apps. You also get a full version of Microsoft Office 2016 Home and Student edition, and a year’s subscription to McAfee LiveSafe.
Lenovo Yoga 720 performance and battery life

As a laptop, the Yoga 720 works like a charm. Booting is really quick thanks to the PCIe SSD, and programs are quick to load. During our testing, we used the laptop as our primary work machine for a few days and weren’t disappointed with its performance. The maximum brightness level of the display did pose a slight issue at times, but other than that, we didn’t have much to complain about. The laptop doesn’t heat up unless you’re doing something graphically intensive, in which case the base gets a bit warm. The exhaust fan is also audible when gaming but it’s not excessively loud.
Windows automatically disables the keyboard when you switch to Stand or Tent mode. The screen's capacitive touch response is very good but the main highlight here is the Active Pen. It’s built well and light enough for comfortable use. There are two buttons near the bottom that mimic the left and right click of a mouse. You can hover the pen over icons and menus, which mimics a mouse cursor motion. The pen is also pressure sensitive, which can be put to good use in drawing apps like SketchBook. Latency is pretty low but performance also depends on how well the app is optimised. For instance, there was visible lag when drawing in Paint 3D, but in apps like SketchBook, the results were more akin to drawing with an actual pen on paper. You can even buy more advanced apps such as Photoshop Elements or Expresil from the Windows Store for serious sketching.

The Windows Ink Workspace is enabled by default, and can be accessed from the taskbar. From here, you can open Sticky Notes to jot down quick memos, Sketchpad for scribbling, and Screen Sketch, which takes a screenshot of whatever you're doing and lets you add notes or illustrations before sharing or saving it. This workspace also shows you recently opened apps and suggests other pen-friendly apps.

There’s no way to customise this workspace by adding more apps or even replacing the default ones. The Settings menu for Windows Ink lets you choose if you are left- or right-handed, but other shortcuts seem to need a Bluetooth-enabled stylus like the Surface Pen. You’ll also find a shortcuts for handwriting input in the Edge browser and Windows photo viewer, for making quick notes.
Coming to the laptop's performance, the scores we got in benchmarks were more or less on par with those of other laptops we’ve tested with this CPU. In PCMark 8, we got 3282, 3139, and 2960 for the Home, Creative, and Work test suites. Graphics performance isn’t good enough for proper gaming but casual games like Asphalt 8: Airborne from the Windows Store run just fine. The laptop works fairly well as a tablet too, as long as you have a surface to place it on. Single-handed use gets fatiguing very fast, as, let’s face it, this is no iPad.

Lenovo Yoga 720 in pictures
The Yoga 720 does well with multimedia content. The sharp and vivid display is great for watching movies on, and audio is not too shabby either. The speakers are designed by JBL and we have Dolby Audio Premium software enhancement working alongside. Due to their placement, it’s easy to muffle them with the device placed on your lap, but they do get decently loud otherwise. Bass response is pretty much non-existent but the highs aren’t shrill and vocals are decent. The software does manage to simulate a wide soundstage, which makes the sound seem fuller. The HD webcam also delivers good quality and images weren't too noisy even under dim light.
Lenovo claims up to 10 hours of battery life but this was most likely achieved in a highly controlled environment. With our regular use, which mostly involved browser-based work (with lots of opened tabs) and music streaming over Wi-Fi, we managed to average around 6-7 hours of usage. With continuous heavy work, which PCMark 8 simulates nicely with its battery test, we managed 4 hours and 17 minutes. For a 4-cell battery in this form factor, we would say that's not too bad.
Verdict

The Yoga 720-13IKB turns out to be a very good Windows 10 hybrid laptop, and justifies its premium price. If you buy it through Lenovo’s official online store then you can save Rs. 10,000 off the sticker price. The bundled Active Pen is also a nice bonus. As far as competition is concerned, this model offers better value than others with similar specs and features. The only variant of the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 that we can find as of now is the 9365 model, which is priced at Rs. 1,35,990 and ships with an active pen. It has a higher resolution (1800x3200) display and has a lower voltage Core i7-7Y75 CPU, which means it wouldn't need active cooling.
HP has a similar solution too with the Spectre x360 13-ac059tu, which is nearly identical in terms of specifications (expect for the 16GB of RAM) to the Yoga 720 but costs a lot more at Rs. 1,57,419. Plus, there doesn’t seem to be any mention of a bundled stylus.
Overall, there’s not much to fault the Yoga 720 on as it delivers very good build quality, a sharp display and good Windows and app performance. Battery life is decent, as long as your usage is frugal. It also works well as a tablet and the bundled active pen puts the touchscreen to better use. A few things could have been better, like having a brighter display, an SD card reader, sensible spacing between the Up/ Down direction keys, and perhaps upward-firing speakers.
If you’re in the market for a competent hybrid laptop and have a flexible budget, then we recommend giving the Yoga 720 some serious thought.

YouTube gets the biggest aesthetic makeover for the first time in the past 12 years. The biggest change after the revamp is seen in YouTube's logo. The earlier logo focused on the word "tube" if you remember. After the redesign, YouTube has now included a video play button before the word "YouTube" (you can see the image above). Both the desktop and mobile version of YouTube has been re-designed. Apart from the changes in the logo, with the major revamp, YouTube brings a range of features on board.

"It's an evolution, not a revolution," says Christopher Bettig, the head of YouTube's art department. With the revamp, the video platform announces basket of new features like typeface, color scheme and few more. The YouTube mobile app for both iOS and Android users has been redesigned. YouTube is eventually rolling out the features to both the platforms.
The newly designed YouTube comes with a lot of new features. YouTube app now includes a white background along with the new logo. This is placed on the left top of the platform. The navigation tabs also see major changes. With the revamp, YouTube navigation tab has been moved at the bottom of the page. YouTube also comes with a new Library and Accounts tab.
YouTube has also introduced a new gesture which will allow users in fast forwarding or rewinding a video. With the new feature, users will be able to forward or rewind a YouTube just by double tapping the left and right side of the video screen. This new swiping gesture is yet to be rolled out, and YouTube says that they will do so in the next couple of months.
The redesigned YouTube app also brings another feature which will allow viewers to switch to previous video by swiping left. While, if the view wants to view the next video, all you need to do is swipe right. This will reduce the burden of going back and forth to watch a video.
New YouTube will soon bring in different video formats. YouTube is said to bring in square and vertical formats for watching videos. This means that viewers will be able to watch videos on YouTube in full screen mode in both square and vertical formats. Right now, if a user tries to watch a video in full screen mode YouTube changes the orientation to horizontal format which sort of affects the viewing experience.
With the revamp, YouTube introduces the playback speed feature to mobile app. To recall, this feature was earlier available only for the desktop users. Now, the mobile users will also be able to have access to the YouTube playback speed feature, which can be found on the settings menu of the application.
Apart from these features, YouTube is reportedly working on the suggested videos section as well. These are the videos that appear on the sides. YouTube seems to be testing this also, and says that they are soon going to bring some new features related to the same.
