BlackBerry to launch full touchscreen, waterproof phone in October

The upcoming iPhone 8 could have see serious competiton. After Note 8 which is rumoured to ship around the same time, now there are news that BlackBerry could unveil a new sibling of the KEYone, and with some really big changes in October.
Reports have it that a new BlackBerry phone with full touchscreen, water and dust resistance is in works and could launch in October. The news was confirmed by Mahieu, head of global sales for TCL, said at the IFA tech conference in Berlin on Tuesday. Engadget reports that the phone could come in October.

The company, this time will ditch its traditional QWERTY keypad and instead have a full touch screen in the phone to function. Blackberry's previously launched phones DTEK50 and 60 were also touch-screen phones but there are some more upgrades by hinted by Mahieu to Engadget that make the upcoming BlackBerry phone different form the lot. To start with, the phone will come with IP67 rating making the phone dust and water resistance. Next is the battery that could be power the phone for nearly 26 hours with "mixed use." If this is believed then the phone could run for nearly 2 days on a single charge if used for basic purpose.
In a nutshell, TCL, the company that designs and builds BlackBerry phones, is planning to launch a BlackBerry phone that could be used in all weather conditions, will have a good life and durability and sport a full touch-screen display. Mahieu also said that TCL hopes that many iPhone and Galaxy users will switch to the new BlackBerry phone once it is launched. Further, the company has not given any detail on the phone or its pricing.
BlackBerry recently launched the KEYone Limited Edition Black smartphone in India for Rs 39,990. The phone has a bigger display and was first announced at Mobile World Congress. However, the phone comes with the Blackberry's typical physical QWERTY keyboard and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at up to 2GHz and paired with 4GB RAM. The dual SIM phone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat and sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display. In terms of optics, the KEYone comes with 12MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and an 8MP front camera with f/2.2.
