The redesign of the 'Porto Fira Suites' by Interior Design Laboratorium takes inspiration from the site's historic use.
The original building of the 13-suite hotel was operated by the neighborhood church -- 'Saint John the Theologian.' Drawing from the monastic roots of the space, Interior Design Laboratorium aimed "to harmoniously combine the simplicity of the space with the heaviness of the materials, such as the aged wood and metal."
Keeping with the architectural tone of the region, the hotel still maintains the clean white-washed walls and heavy stone archways that are recalled with images of the Greek Isles. The color palette remains neutral with blue, grey and black accents that give the space dimension and weight without taking away from its breezy tone.
