Exaggerated Red Brick Houses

31/44 Architects' 'Red House' Teases Victorian Tropes

Red House' is on a small street dotted with Victorian townhouses in East Dulwich, south London, and 31/44 Architects decided to have some fun with the tropes of the locale in designing the family home. Red House indeed hews close to the architectural traits that typify the neighboring residences, but it does so in an exaggerated manner, managing to come off as cheeky even in its design.
One of the essential aspects of Victorian construction as a whole is red bricks. Rather than using red bricks and calling it a day, 31/44 Architects opted for a more literal interpretation, cladding the facade in brick and then painting those bricks an even brighter shade of red than the classic material.
