Netflix adds HDR support for
Sony Xperia XZ Premium
With the latest update, you can now watch select Netflix content in HDR on your SONY XPERIA XZ PREMIUM s gorgeous 4K screen.
SONY did not fail impress the world back in february with its latest “Premium” flagship: not only was it the world’s first commercially available phone to be powered by Snapdragon 835, but it was the world’s first smartphone to feature a 4K display with HDR support. Of course, HDR isn’t all that useful without HDR-ready content, and fortunately for Xperia XZ Premium owners, that shouldn’t be an issue.
Netflix has just announced that Sony’s flagship phablet will be the next device to have Netflix HDR playback enabled. If you’re wondering, apart from the Xperia XZ Premium, the only other smartphone THAT CAN PLAY NETFLIX IN HDR is the LG G6which supports Dolby Vision. Although the streaming giant hasn’t confirmed it yet, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus also come with HDR support, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if Samsung’s flagship duo were next in line to get Netflix mobile HDR streaming capabilities.
The Xperia XZ Premium offers one of the best mobile displays out there right now – I mean, it’s hard to outshine its 5.5-inch 4K Triluminos display with HDR10 support. With Netflix HDR support, you should now be able to take full advantage of that screen while watching compatible content: the colors should pop out more, and the contrast should be higher. Just make sure that you have the latest firmware on your device, the latest version of the Netflix app, a 4 Screen premium Netflix subscription, and a stable Internet connection.
